Logo and Signature

The following elements, which reflect DePaul’s brand, are required or recommended on all DePaul Web pages. They help users navigate DePaul’s site effectively and create a unified look for university pages.

Required Elements
These elements are required on all DePaul Web pages.
  • The home page of each site should incorporate the Tree of Wisdom logo and DePaul signature as a graphic link to www.depaul.edu. On subsequent pages, you may drop the logo and signature, but a text link to DePaul's home page should be easily visible. Request an EPS or TIF file of the Web version of the logo and signature from Marketing Communications. Do not attempt to scan or copy the logo and signature from another source.
  • The home page of every site should include the copyright and disclaimer line with links at the bottom of its home page (see the bottom of www.depaul.edu).
  • The home page of every site must link to the search function of DePaul’s Web site (http://www.depaul.edu/search/).
  • The home page of every site must link to DePaul’s contact page (http://www.depaul.edu/contactus.asp) so that visitors who are interested in more information can fill out the inquiry form.
  • The home page of every site must provide a way to contact the faculty or staff person responsible for the content of the site. The full e-mail address should be visible: aperson@depaul.edu. This allows users whose browsers don’t support e-mail, such as library patrons, to print the page and e-mail you later. If you don’t want to use your regular e-mail address, contact DePaul’s Network Administration to create an e-mail account for your site.
  • Every page must link to the DePaul home page (www.depaul.edu).
If your site does not have these elements, you will be asked to make the necessary corrections. Failure to comply will require notification of supervising administrators until the situation is resolved.

Recommended elements
  • Your home page title should include the word "DePaul."
  • The address and main phone number of your program should appear on your home page. You also may want to include a "contacts" page.
  • You should provide a link to your department or program’s home page on every page of your site.
  • You are encouraged to use the navigation scheme, typography and/or color scheme of the top layers of DePaul’s Web site. By echoing these elements, your users will understand that your Web site is part of DePaul. Information Services can help you create/convert your site to comply with the design of the top layers of www.depaul.edu.
  • If your site has many pages, you should include a site-specific search engine. Contact Internet Communications about how to do this.

Logo and Signature
The DePaul logo, signature and word mark are a modified version of Augustea Roman. Do not attempt to create these yourself; approved electronic files are available from Marketing Communications. Do not use this font for any other purpose such as page titles or headers—this makes our logo and word mark less distinctive.

Because screen space is limited, a more compact version of DePaul’s logo and signature have been created for Web use. This compact logo is only approved for Web usage. When you request the electronic file, specify that you want the Web version.

When sizing the Tree of Wisdom logo and the DePaul signature, be careful not to distort the proportion of the image.

Correct usage of Logo

Incorrect usage of Logo

(stretched horizontally)

(stretched vertically)

(enlarged proportionally, but the enlargement causes pixilation)

To preserve DePaul’s brand unity, university units and programs are not allowed to develop new logos or other identifying marks for use on the Web without prior permission from the associate vice president (AVP) of Marketing Communications.

When DePaul is a partner or cosponsor of a Web site or activities promoted on a Web site, follow the co-branding and endorsement guidelines. DePaul’s logo and/or signature may not be altered in any way for use on these sites except as specified in these guidelines.
